10/04/2003 Archived Entry: "Liberty State Park, Mastoris Restaurant"

New York City Skyline (17k image)One of the most spectacular views of the New York City skyline is seen from Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. I drove a group to the park today to catch the ferry to Ellis Island, Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty. Even on a gray, somewhat rainy day like today the view is breathtaking.

Following the group's visit to the park and islands, we had dinner at Mastoris in Bordentown, NJ (intersection of routes 130 and 206). It was my first time there; I had heard good things about the restaurant, but even so, it exceeded my expectations. The food was excellent, and there was so much of it, nearly everyone had a take-out box to bring their leftovers home. The restaurant is large with 750 seats; there were at least seven buses there when I was there, and although it was a little crowded, service was very good. This is a great place to take a group for dinner.
