10/03/2003 Archived Entry: "Renaissance Faire"
I took a group of elementary school students to the Renaissance Faire in Cornwall, PA today. Drivers get free admission, and since it was a nice day, I decided to walk around a little. One of the things I particularly enjoy are the various musicians with period instruments. One fellow was playing a hurdy gurdy, something I had never seen before -- sort of a violin with keys. But my favorite period instrument is the hammered dulcimer; an excellent performer, Joe Jewell, shown in the photo at the right, was playing his hammered dulcimer. I was so impressed I bought one of his CDs. Cool music.

Can you post a portion of an MP3 so we can hear him too? (for review purposes ;) )

He has a Web site with a few short samples of his music; here's the page about the CD I bought -- http://www.featherstonemusic.com/jjfantasy.html -- "Fantasy at the Faire."
