I'm currently on a three day ski trip to Killington, Vermont (photo at right) ... just over a six hour drive from home. Both the group and I are staying in a small, older hotel called Chalet Killington Bed and Breakfast. It's clean and relatively comfortable -- but it's the first hotel I've ever stayed in, I think, that didn't have phones in the rooms! With nearly everyone (it seems) having a cell phone these days, I guess it's not that important. Fortunately cell phones work well here, and there is a signal for my Verizon wireless PC card, too, or I couldn't get online. The hotel also serves a pretty decent hot breakfast in the morning, included in the room rate -- and the small Mexican restaurant in the hotel is very good -- so at least there are some amenities!
Earlier this week I had day trips to Atlantic City and New York City.
Last week I spent five days in New York City, my favorite place to go. One day was a company tour to the Broadway show, Phantom of the Opera. Four days were with one group -- I picked up a group of high school girls from Houston, Texas, and shuttled them around the city for four days, beginning and ending at LaGuardia Airport in Queens. LaGuardia has to be one of the least bus-friendly airports in the country; most of the terminals are behind signs that have an 11 foot height restriction, which means we had to park a little way outside the terminal and let the group walk to us.
