10/16/2004 Archived Entry: "Online Practically Everywhere; Boyd's Bear Country"
Time for a quick update; I'll do more updating over the next day or two. But I wanted to post a brief message from Gettysburg, PA, where I drove a group to Boyd's Bear Country today. It's the first time I've been here, and it's pretty neat -- what looks like an old barn (see photo at right) is actually a new building (2002) housing the "world's most humongous Teddy Bear store." It's a great bus trip from everyone's perspective; over 70,000 teddy bears of just about every kind you could imagine, restaurants seating around 500 or more people (and really GOOD food, reasonably priced!), a nice bus drop-off/pick-up area, and parking for about 50 motorcoaches in a parking lot completely separated from cars. It's easy to find, and an easy day for the driver.
As I said, I'm posting this from Gettysburg, PA -- right from my steering wheel! Well, from my laptop, actually, but it's sitting on the steering wheel. I finally got a Verizon wireless PC card for my laptop this week, and now I can easily get online from nearly anywhere in the eastern US, with a good (and often very fast) connection. It's really cool! So I'm hoping to get more work done while I'm just sitting, waiting for my passengers. I've had the card for three days now, and have had no problem getting connected from everywhere I've been lately -- Virginia (near Dulles Airport), Scranton, PA, and now Gettysburg, PA. More later. (Posted from my driver's seat in Gettysburg, PA.)
