12/22/2003 Archived Entry: "Sleeping Children"
Saturday I took a group to the Brooklyn Tabernacle in Brooklyn, New York City, for their annual Christmas program. The group reported it was excellent, and I would have loved to see it, but there wasn't any parking nearby. I've been to the Tabernacle before (last May) for one of their Sunday services; it's quite an awesome place (4000 seat church in a converted theater, 275 voice choir) and if you ever have a chance to attend, I highly recommend it.
Shortly after dropping off the group, I pulled up behind a New York school bus at a red light in Brooklyn and saw this sign in the rear window (photo at right). Just a few days ago there was another story locally about a sleeping child locked in a school bus overnight, probably due to a driver in too much of a hurry to check his bus at the end of the run. There aren't any good excuses for that. I not only check my coach for sleeping persons at the end of the day, but at the drop off points along the way. You can't be too careful.
