11/21/2003 Archived Entry: "Radio City and Atlantic City"
Tuesday I took another group to the Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular in New York City. New drop-off/pickup procedures were supposed to be in place starting the day before (11-17-03 -- see link on the Links page). Basically, what's supposed to happen is that when you pull up within a block of Radio City Music Hall on 6th Avenue, a greeter is supposed to come out to your bus, greet your passengers, and give you a pickup time and location so there aren't 50 coaches at the same spot at one time after the show. But, wouldn't you know ... the bus greeter was "on break" according to other staffers there when I pulled up. So I picked up my group on 6th between 47th and 48th Streets as usual. Has anyone had any better luck with the new procedures at Radio City? Click the "comments" link below and tell us.
Wednesday I was in Atlantic City, NJ, with a nice group of seniors, dropping them at the Showboat casino. Who designed that transportation center?!! Huge pillars between each of the dozen or so bus slots make it a challenge to get in and out easily. What a pain! Another driver and good friend took a group to a show at the Tropicana (where the new parking garage under construction collapsed recently -- what a horrendous mess that is). They were going to the show, "Showgirls of Magic," and had two extra tickets, so I kept him company at the show (thanks, Sanford!). The hour long show was entertaining, but I wouldn't spend my own money to see it; basically just a few magic tricks sprinkled throughout the show to give six dancers lots of excuses to parade the stage in skimpy outfits, plus a couple of comedians (fat ladies) doing some routines with the audience. Bottom line -- save your money unless you get a free ticket.
Tomorrow I'm in NYC again, and Sunday at another Eagles game.
