Stuck in the mud (12k image)Patience is a virtue ... and that goes double for bus and coach drivers. This poor driver (not from my comany; photo retouched to remove the name and number on his school bus to protect the guilty) couldn't wait for the buses in line ahead of him to get out of his way this evening at the Sovereign Bank Arena (Trenton, New Jersey), so he decided to drive across a six-foot wide divider, over curbs and shrubbery, to beat his way to the street. Not a good idea. His bus got hung up on the curb as the rear wheels sank in the soft earth around the shrubbery, and all his rocking back and forth served only to dig him in deeper. He compounded his error by calling 911, and all kinds of rescue vehicles were on the way before the police got involved and stopped them, and called a tow truck instead. Sheesh.

I was in Trenton for a cheerleaders' competition. The problem might -- might -- have been prevented if the organization who ran the event had properly organized the transportation events at the end of the day, but it was a disorganized mess -- too many buses in too small a parking lot, with some groups ready to leave long before others. My group left almost two hours later than they had planned, as did several other groups. Aside from the parking lot mess at the end of the day, however, it was a good day to be driving; warm, sunny weather, trees changing color all along the way, and a pleasant time with other drivers throughout the afternoon. Too bad it had a sour ending for a couple of other drivers.

What a story! It sounds like you were a lot more patient than you probably felt.
