10/16/2003 Archived Entry: "Cabela's in Hamburg, PA"
I'd never been to a Cabela's store until today. I had a trip to Hawk Mountain (Kempton, PA) today, so after dropping off our group several drivers went to visit Cabela's new Hamburg store, which just opened September 18th. What an amazing place ... not only is it big (250,000 sq.ft.), but it's so interesting it would be a great place to stop with a group for an impulse visit if you had some time to kill, or weather spoiled part of your group's activities. The store includes a museum-quality diorama, 30-foot Conservation Mountain, 12,000-square-foot trophy deer museum, 55,000-gallon aquarium, and hundreds of wild game trophies displayed in a showroom so exceptional, you might forget you are in a retail store. Cabela's expects this store to become the #1 tourist attraction in Pennsylvania with a predicted 7 million visitors annually, so you might discover this as a primary destination for one of your future trips! Very interesting.
