Saturday was my second trip to the Smithsonian's new extension of the National Air & Space Museum, the Udvar-Hazy Center, located at the Dulles Airport in Chantilly, VA, just west of Washington, DC.
I first mentioned this in my blog about three weeks ago after my first visit, as one of the most visitor- and bus-friendly destinations I've visited. The photo at the right, taken from the top level of the observation tower, shows a bit of what I talked about before: the bus dropoff/pickup spaces in front of the museum acommodate six buses at once, and benches there make it convenient for passengers who arrive early; at the top of the photo you can see the bus parking area for up to 40 buses, within easy walking distance of the front door of the museum. Bus parking and entrance to the museum are free, but parking for cars costs $12. So take the bus!
