01/13/2004 Archived Entry: "Beautiful (but cold!) Big Boulder"

Saturday I took a school group to Big Boulder ski area in the Poconos (Blakeslee, PA). It was pretty, but c-o-l-d -- below 0°F when we arrived. There was a snowboarding competition on the one slope; the photo at the right shows one snowboarder grinding one of the special beams embedded in the snow. It was interesting to watch -- if you were indoors in the ski lodge! I have another trip there tomorrow; I hope it won't be quite as cold.
