12/28/2003 Archived Entry: "Veterans Stadium Demolition Delayed"
According to a story this week in The Inquirer, demolition of Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia has been delayed from sometime in February to the beginning of April. It will then take most of the summer to clean up and convert the site to much needed parking areas for the new stadiums. The new parking lots aren't expected to open until sometime in September 2004.
So parking for next year's Eagles football season should be greatly improved, but it means we'll have to suffer through the Phillies season with less than adequate parking. The Phillies' new stadium, Citizen's Bank Park, will open in April, and, combined with what is expected to be a great Phillies team this season, could mean much larger than average crowds all season, making for a challenging year for motorcoach drivers taking groups to the games. Keep your fingers crossed that there will be some designated parking for buses by the time the Phillies season opens.
