For those of you that travel the road and stop at truck stops/travel centers.  One of the best in my opinion was the TA Travel Centers.  How ever, something has happened within the last year.  Every time we used to stop with a group of people we would get $20.00.  Most times I turned around and spent most of it there.  At the restaurants our meals were always free.  Well they have done away with the $20.00 and gone to points.  OK, that was their choice.  You still got your $20.00, but it was in the form of points so you had no choice but to spend it there.  NP, since I usually spent it there anyway.  But then they added a time limit.  You had to stay there so long of a time for your points.  You had to check in with the clerk and check out again.  Now for the straw that breaks the camel's back so to say.  Now we have to pay for meals no matter how many we stop with unless we call at least 24 hours in advance.  How many travel groups know they are going to stop at a truck stop until they get there.  And in that, how many really know they want to eat until they get there.  I just stopped at a TA in Bloomsbury, NJ with a group of 52.  Over half ate and yes, I did call ahead.  Not 24, but when I knew they wanted to eat, I called them.  About 9 hours.  I had to pay almost $14.00 for a biscuit/gravy, hashbrowns, sausage links, and a glass of milk.  Expensive if you ask me.

For me, this will be the last time I pay for a meal at any TA Travel Center.

JWS.  Keep it safe out there.

Yeah, I discovered this a couple of months ago. That's their way of telling us they don't want bus groups anymore. I always suspect things like this result from a case of disgruntled or lazy employees yanking the corporate chain, rather than a well thought out decision, but either way, I won't be stopping at TA travel centers any more. They win. (Or is it lose?)
